Pleasant Mattress, Inc., Elects Rion Morgenstern President and CEO
Morgenstern becomes third generation of family leadership for Fresno mattress manufacturer
FRESNO, Calif., Feb. 11, 2015—Pleasant Mattress, Inc., producer of Cannon Sleep Products, has elected Rion Morgenstern president and CEO of the company, effective Jan. 1. Rion succeeds his father, Herb Morgenstern, as CEO, becoming the third generation of family leadership. Herb Morgenstern has assumed the role of Chairman of the Board.
“I am proud to hand the reigns over to Rion as I step back from the day-to-day operations of the company,” said Herb Morgenstern. “His professional and personal accomplishments outside of the mattress industry have prepared him well to lead the family business.”
Rion joined Pleasant Mattress as vice president in 2011 after a successful 20-year sales and marketing career in the technology sector. He started his professional career as a computer programmer, which led to technical leadership as CTO of AuraGen Technologies in Orange County, Calif. After taking a two-year sabbatical to see the world, he returned to California as director of sales for a San Diego based software startup, MindTouch. He later left MindTouch to accept a role as director of sales and marketing for San Diego’s oldest interactive agency, SiteLab.
“I was raised in the mattress business, spending weekends and summer breaks making and loading mattresses,” said Rion. “Now I am very excited to put my expertise to work for the family business to lead us into the third generation and sixth decade of manufacturing high quality, high value mattress sets.”
James Smith, president of Mattress Land SleepFit, commented, “Rion has been instrumental in our SleepFit strategy and branded products. His leadership will bring this organization to even higher levels. This is an exciting time for our friends at Pleasant Mattress!”
